Many families miss loved ones when they are away serving in the military. Sometimes the service men and women are away from moms, dads, brothers, and sisters. In this story Dad and the kids, Harmony and Dominic, are home missing mom. Mom is in the United States Army, and during her deployment, she is sometimes gone for up to 12 months. Throughout the book, you experience what the family has to do to cope without mom, all the while missing her. I hope this book is a testament to those families who make many sacrifices at home and abroad so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we have.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I was inspired to write this book based on conversations with some of my students. Over the years a few of my students have shared the ups and downs of having their fathers in the military. Unfortunately many of them rarely see their parent and when they do it is only for a limited amount of time. I was moved by the strength and understanding of the kids.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The characters my stories are inspired by children in my family and from friends. Sometimes these children have certain qualities, attributes that I notice. Then I begin to spin a web of stories.
